Our Philosophy

New School for Jewish Identity Los Angeles, or NSFJI provides a dynamic, enriching, and artistic Jewish Learning Program for Jewish Kids during after-school hours.  Through our classes and original curriculum, our students have a comforting space where each can be introspective, creative, flex new muscles, get excited about our heritage, and learn something new all at the same time.  In addition, there are Expressive Arts components to our school.  Students have the chance to engage in Music, Art, Theatre, Creative Writing, on a regular basis.  Jewish Meditation, Jewish Music, and Prayer are incorporated in all of our Tefilot classes. In a short time our students are given the opportunity to build on their skills in the areas of their own Jewish identity, Jewish History, Hebrew Language-reading and writing, and speech writing.

Student Profile:

Girls and Boys ages 6-13 of all Jewish denominations are welcome! We must comply with kosher laws, and Jewish holiday observances.  Students must be mature enough to handle the grade level, attendance, and behavior requirement expected of them.

Mission: To create a safe and sacred space for learning about our Jewish identity and the basics of Jewish values, halacha (ritual), history, and our mission as a community. The purpose for this program is to help develop Jewish leaders for the future.  To equip our youth with the tools they need to grow, and learn how to communicate these values outside of our community, on college campuses, in the workplace, and in their future communities.

"I really look forward to Hebrew Fun!"
